Overview Earlier in 2009 the CDKC committee was presented with a proposal from one of it's long term members, Mr Craig Harradine to investigate the feasibility of making the Lithgow facility more attractive to kart racers by extending the current track and making sufficient changes to the layout to enable the track to run a minimum of 1000 meters, have at least two track configurations and maybe even be able to be run in both a clockwise and anti-clockwise direction. The committee has endorsed this proposal and another CDKC member, Mr Glen Forwood, has put in a considerable amount of work in generating a detailed layout for the membership to discuss. (see below) With the unfortunate closing of SKRC and Wollongong a bit up in the air, racers are now looking for alternatives. CDKC is only an hour and a half from most western Sydney suburbs and the road over the mountain is continually being improved. A new look, longer track with different track configurations and even better facilities may be just the thing to bring drivers to the track. The club owns the entire facility at Lithgow and is very financial with a long term future at it's present location. Additional funding may be available from the AKA or the banks when a detailed submission is available. this is probably one of the most exciting thing to happen to the club for a number of years and has the ability to make CDKC THE track to race in NSW
Layouts
The first layout proposal is available by going to the Downloads section on this site and looking under General. Some of the key features of this proposal are; - Reloacte the pit area
- Extend the track into the current pit area
- New out grid with the ability to load two classes at the same time
- New in grid
Almost certainly there will be other proposals that will be formulated as discussion generates new and different ideas. These will be posted as they are available Update 6/2/10 There are now 3 more variations of the track extension to have a look at in the Downloads section on this site. It's only my view but Variation 2 which goes into the top paddock behind the starters box has some merit as it leaves our current pit area alone and would bring racing closer to the club house which would be great for spectators. Budgets Draft budgets are currently being formulated and will be posted as soon as they are available Discussion If you have a comment to make please forward your thoughts to me on
